The Sachatamia Rainforest Reserve is a private reserve holds 120 hectares of primary and reforested cloud forest in the Mindo-Nambillo Eco-corridor, which is world recognized for its immense biodiversity and has attained the first place in the annual count of bird species on a global level.One of the main attractions are the hundreds of bird species that inhabit the exuberant protected forest aside from the agoutis, ant-eaters, armadillos and deer.
Its one of the two LEK (a place for courtship and reproduction among birds) registered in Ecuador as pertaining to the Umbrellabird Longuipendulo is found within the reserve.
