The Archaeological Complex of Tulipe, close to Quito is one of the most important pre-columbian vestiges of a merchants community that spread their knowledge amongst the peoples of the Northern Ecuadorian Andes and Coast.

Start the day heading westwards from Quito into the lush cloud forest of the external slopes of the Andes. We’ll arrive to the Archaeological Complex of Tulipe where we’ll learn about the ancestral Yumbos a very interesting pre-inca community dedicated to exchange products, culture and knowledge between the Andes and the Coastal lower lands region through their complex one-man road system (culuncos). In this site they have built this ancient pilgrimage center based on their profound knowledge of astronomy. Experience this spiritual and mystical encounter with life, to enable a greater understanding of the importance that the elements of nature and the ecological equilibrium had to the ancient civilizations of the Center of the World.

Afterwards on this Tulipe and Mindo tour, we’ll head to a charming bird sanctuary for lunch where will have a chance to effortlessly observe a grand variety of humming bird species and maybe some tanagers, trogons or even toucans.
